Since 1980, the Sunrise Waldorf School has grown to provide a preschool and K-8 Waldorf education which integrates academic and artistic development at appropriate stages in the growth of the child. The nearby Island Oak High School provides a continuation with classes 9-12.

Sunrise Waldorf School is provincially recognised and is funded as a Group One Independent School and meets B.C. Ministry of Education curriculum guidelines. The Sunrise Educational Society, the authority under which the school operates, is a registered non-profit society.

At the Sunrise Waldorf School, a comprehensive academic, artistic and physical education program is presented in a supportive, structured and non-competitive environment. English, math, science, drawing, painting, music, beeswax modelling, drama, eurythmy (a movement art), gardening, woodwork, physical education, French - all stem from the age appropriate Waldorf curriculum themes.

Island Oak High School is a Waldorf High School in the Cowichan Valley and is currently accepting applications for grades 9 - 12. Interested local students and Canadian boarding students, as well as international boarding and exchange students are welcome.

Serving early childhood through adolescence, our curriculum, shared by Waldorf schools worldwide, brings a balance of arts, high academic standards and skills for life.
